Whether you’re renting out a theater for your next meet or hanging in your living room with friends, picking out a movie for a frilly audience can be challenging. Here are five movies you can watch after you see Kamikaze Girls for the 50th time.

  1. Marie Antoinette (2006)

Run Time: 2 hours 7 minutes

You’ll love it because: of the stunning clothes and sets.

This visually stunning movie follows the rise and fall of the infamous queen Marie Antoinette. The gorgeous costumes all blend seamlessly with the unmistakable castle Versailles. There has never been a prettier movie.

  2. Interview with a Vampire (1994)

Run Time: 2 hours 3 minutes

You’ll love it because: Lestat is a quintessential style icon.

Lest any ouji fans feel left, here’s a movie just for you. Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise smolder at each other for two hours in various historical menswear and look fly as heck. This movie is beautiful people behaving badly and its a wild ride from start to finish.

  3. Alice in Wonderland, 1951

Run time: 1 hour 15 minutes

You’ll love it because: she’s a lolita style icon.

Obviously Disney’s animated movies are pretty good for a frilly movie night, but Alice’s influence on lolita fashion is pretty self explanatory. This version is silly, short, and features a pretty wild tea party.

  4. Clueless, 1995

Run Time: 1 hour 40 minutes

You’ll love it because: Cher’s outfit software is the stuff of dreams.

Okay, I know this is a unusual choice, but hear me out. Cher is extremely fashion concious, she’s obsessed with brand, and she doesn’t bat an eye at dropping serious cash on the clothes she wants. She sounds like she’d fit right into the lolita community. Plus, every lolita I know would kill for her closet organizer and outfit picking software.

  5. My Neighbor Totoro, 1988

Run Time: 1 hour 40 minutes.

You’ll love it because: its one of the quintessential anime movies.

Obviously most studio Ghibli movies would make for a great movie night, but this film is a classic for a reason. Enchanted forests, gorgeous Japanese countrysides, and adorable mascots. What more could you want?

Sorry. No data so far.
