Introducing Chinese Lolita Brand Écailles De Lune †

While Gothic & Lolita Fashion has its origins in Japan, it is steadily gaining popularity overseas. Lately, if you open an issue of Gothic & Lolita Bible, you will often find special features on international Gothic & Lolita brands as well.

Today we would like to introduce the Chinese Gothic Lolita brand Écailles De Lune!

Écailles De Lune means “scales of the moon” in French.

“The transience of life and the stillness of death” being the unchanging brand theme, their designs are inspired by Western literature and paintings, religious art and popular folklore. They are mainly a Gothic & Lolita brand, but their classically elegant designs are popular among not only Gothic but also Classic Lolitas as well♪

Established in 2013, the brand is still fairly new but already enjoying popularity thanks to their fairytale-like ambience and solid craftsmanship!

Their popular Allegory of Vanity series has been featured in Gothic & Lolita Bible as well! ♡ (The brand name was changed to Asphodels for the Japanese release.)

Forest Of Pipe Organ Series

 
The majestic Forest Of Pipe Organ series features an enormous pipe organ hidden in a finely drawn forest.
Available as both an OP and a JSK, it was released in black, white and blue – the three main colors of Gothic Lolita fashion.

The silver cross on the bodice is simple yet impressive.

Of course it also looks lovely when paired with your favorite accessories! ♡
The OP’s light chiffon sleeves enhances the wearer’s loveliness even more.☆

Allegory of Vanity Series

Featuring the painting “Allegory of Vanity” by Spanish painter Antonio de Pereda, this series emits a strong religious atmosphere.

Representing the emptiness of life and the unavoidability of death, the painting features motifs such as skulls, candles and hourglasses and expresses the brand concept splendidly.


The glittery waist ribbon gives the dress a gorgeous feel. The generous neckline is perfect for a showy necklace or choker♪
Due to its popularity this series has long been sold out, but since the brand received many requests for a re-release it seems the print will finally make a comeback this year☆

Midsummer Night Series

Featuring Abraham Brueghel’s painting “Woman grasping fruits” and mellow colors, the Midnight Summer series is leaning towards a classical style.

The pearl charm on the bodice and the shoulder straps that appear to be tied into ribbons are not to be missed☆

It looks especially lovely when paired with the blouse from the same series.
The translucent tulle collar gives the blouse a very elegant look.

Of course the OP looks lovely as well, especially thanks to the ribbons on the shoulders – cute♡

Burial of Butterfly Series

A sweeter design featuring pastel colors and a butterfly print. Quite rare for a Gothic Lolita brand♡
Available in pink, sax and lavender, but due to their great popularity some colors are already sold out on their official homepage.

It was released in three versions – An OP, a high-waist JSK and a corset-style JSK. The elegant long skirt gives it a refined look.

Gorgeous gold picture frames, clocks, cameos and such make this print especially delicate and beautiful.
We highly recommend this series♡

The Lady of the Camellias OP

The pintucks on the hem and bodice give this dress an elegant feel, as prim and proper as a camellia flower.
Fine details such as the round collar with its delicate lace and the fabric covered buttons deserve to be noted as well.
The dress opens in the front so it can be worn with your favorite underskirt as well♡

The back is simple yet lovely as well. The lace detail on the waist ribbon shows the attention to detail that went into this dress.

●From Toei Shinjuku Line, Shinjuku-sanchōme Station (1 minute walk from exit C5)
Take exit C5 at the Toei Shinjuku Line Shinjuku-sanchōme Station and head north for about 20m, then turn left at the “Tachinomiya Arigatō” (a drinking establishment). Continue for about 10m until you reach the entrance to a building on your right (opposite an Izakaya called “Chirinbō”).

●From Marunouchi Line and Fukutoshin Line, Shinjuku-sanchōme Station (3 minute walk from exit B2)
Take exit B2 at the Tokyo Metro Shinjuku-sanchōme station. You will see a store called “Peach John” on your right. Follow that street heading east-southeast for about 130m until you see a restaurant called “Yakiniku Chōshunkan” and turn left there. Walk for about 40m until you reach the “Tachinomiya Arigatō” (a drinking establishment) and turn left again. Continue for about 10m until you reach the entrance to a building on your right (opposite an izakaya called “Chirinbō”).

●From Shinjuku Station East Exit (8 minute walk)
Take the East exit of Shinjuku Station (in front of Shinjuku ALTA) and follow Shinjuku-dōri heading east (towards Isetan and Yotsuya) for about 500m until you reach an au shop (a cellphone store) on the left. Turn left there and walk for about 70m until you reach a Yakitori restaurant called “Ebichū”. Turn right there and walk for about 5m until you reach the entrance on the left.

• ●From Shinjuku Station South-East Exit (8 minute walk)
  Take the South-East exit of Shinjuku Station and take the Kōshū Kaidō street heading east-southeast (towards IDC Otsuka (a furniture store) and Yotsuya) for about 400m until you reach the Marui Annex department store and the WALD9 cinema. Cross the street at the traffic signal north of Marui Annex and turn right. Continue until you reach an au shop (a cellphone store). Turn left there and walk for about 70m until you reach a Yakitori restaurant called “Ebichū”. Turn right there and walk for about 5m until you reach the entrance on the left.
