Baby, The Stars Shine Bright is a Sweet Lolita brand and was founded in 1988 by Akinori Isobe and his wife, Fumiyo in Shibuya, Tokyo, Japan.
The name Baby, The Stars Shine Bright came from the album Baby The Stars Shine Bright by an English group called Everything But The Girl. Akinori Isobe thought that the name was cute and decided to use it, without knowing that it was an album title, after leaving a women’s clothes store in 1988.
BABY’s prints often feature classical fairy tale themes, including Little Red Riding Hood and Snow White
BABY grew it’s popularity from the Japanese movie and book, Kamikaze Girls or Shimotsuma Monogatari.
Momoko Ryugasaki, the main character of the story, adores BABY and wears their clothing throughout the whole movie and book.
In 2004, Baby, The Stars Shine Bright extended it’s brand and created Alice and the Pirates. The brand caters more for darker colours and pirate themed ouji and aristocratic styles.
BABY now has stores in Asia, Europe and North America and quite frequently holds fashion shows in Japan.
Hello, I am a Sweet Lolita from the UK. I love to stalk the internet and find the best deal on one of my dream dresses! Aside from that my other hobbies are baking, sewing and figure skating (Go Yuzuru Hanyu!). I quite often participate in the Hyper Japan fashion shows in London, feel free to say hello if you recognise my name!
Thank you for reading my posts.
